Goa is renowned around the world for its beaches. This tiny emerald nestled between Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea is one of the most popular international beach destinations. Check out the list of 5 best beaches in Goa to have your share of pure, unadulterated fun1. Vagator Beach
Vagator Beach - the most excellent beaches in the world |
If
its red color cliffs do not impress you much, Vagator beach’s big black
rocks definitely will. Vagator beach finds much favor with the partying
kind – Indian and otherwise. The beach is often (over)crowded by
hippies and heavy metal junkies who are a common sight here. Eating
joints are aplenty, but would still be outnumbered by bars and pubs
together. Accommodation options vary from luxury apartments to
backpacking shacks. Go crazy shopping for clothes and junk jewelery.
2. Patnem Beach
Patnem Beach- the southern most beach of goa |
The best part about Patnem beach is that it is just a 10 minute walk from Palolem Beach, cipped in the middle of 2 sea cliffs.Small and fantastic, Patnem Beach is a nice place to chill with family and friends. The beach is 48 km west of Margao in south Goa, and is really close to the railway station. A visit to this beach, dotted with lovely well-equipped huts, has a tranquilizing effect.
3. Sinquerim Beach
Enjoy water sports at Sinquerim Beach |
Arguably the most well-kept North Goa beach, Sinquerim beach it ideal for swimming. Water sports here are at par with the best in India and outside and one can scuba-dive, snorkel, parasail, jetski or just be a beach bum. Accommodation options are limited but sufficient, largely because Sinquerim beach is relatively less crowded.
4. Velsao Beach
Velsao beach is famous for its large stretches of silver soft sands and picturesque sunsets |
Located
in the southern part of Goa, the beach capital of India, the not so
popular Velsao Beach is closer to Bogmalo and Hollant beaches. Velsao
beach is the ideal day trip destination. A peaceful walk, a relaxing
swim and enlightening visits to chapels like Our Lady of Cures and
Velsao chapels make your day.
5. Majorda Beach
Straight View of Majorda Beach |
Majorda beach, despite having the smallest stretch as compared to other beaches in Goa, is in contention of being crowned the best beach in South Goa. Drive 5 kms north of Colva and you are greeted with the delectable aroma coming out from some of the best bakeries in Goa. Legend has it that it was here Lord Rama was brought after he was kidnapped. Majorda has some of the best bakers in India, some even being the direct descendents of the first batch of Portuguese to arrive in India.
